Transcript of a diary kept by Arthur H. Smith of Beloit, Wis. while serving as a "One Hundred Days" man with Co. B, 40th Wisconsin Volunteers, from May to September, 1864. Included are descriptions of Camp Randall (Madison, Wis.) and a skirmish at Memphis, Tenn. Also with the diary is a brief biographical sketch of Smith written by Nelson Van Valen.
